The export contract ceremony for Wando seafood was held on September 23 at the LA store of Home Shopping World in the US. An agreement was reached between the four parties. The promotion was hosted by Wando-gun and supervised by the Jeollanam-do Small and Medium Business Employment Economy Promotion Agency, and 8 seafood exporting companies in Wando-gun participated.

The county exported 190,000 dollars worth of Wando special products last June for a promotion, and sold out various processed seafood products such as frozen abalone, flatfish porridge, seaweed, seaweed, kelp, and assorted seaweed. In particular, they had time to seek expansion of seafood sales channels through 1:1 business consultations with local buyers.

The companies participating in the promotion are Haesung International, Wando Segyero Fisheries, Wandomam English Association Corporation, Bada Myungga, Wando Bada Foods, Heungil Foods, Nuri English Association Corporation, and Kelp Abalone Fisheries. Despite this, seafood exports to the US this year are cruising.

According to data from the Korea International Trade Association, as of July 2022, exports of kelp and seasoned laver tripled and doubled from the same month of the previous year to $590,000 and $400,000, respectively. Exports increased by more than 990,000 USD and 620,000 USD, respectively.

This is the result of holding an annual home meal online export consultation, operating a regular export consultation center, inviting overseas buyers for regular export consultation, actively holding and supporting overseas promotional events, and promoting a one-day delivery service in the US.

In addition, media reports that Wando abalone is excellent for strengthening immunity are made at home and abroad, and the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration released satellite photos of the seaweed farm in Wando, and it was reported that Wando has the best conditions for aquaculture and is farmed in an eco-friendly way. I saw a lot of influence.

Park Ji-hoon, CEO of Haesung International, who introduced a new premium flounder porridge at the promotion, said, “Local customers who visited the promotion showed better reactions to Wando products than before, and I was proud to hear that they could trust and eat Wando products.”

A military official said, “Through this visit to the United States, I was able to feel the status of the county in the United States, the capital of Korea’s clean sea and the number 1 fishery.” We will do our best to support development and promotional events.”

The military plans to continue to promote support projects such as follow-up support and marketing even after the sales promotion. Meanwhile, the LA Korean Festival is the largest event for the Korean community in the United States. About 270 promotional booths were operated this year, and the largest number of visitors ever.
